How these questions link to my project;
These questions link to my project by asking what an audience of people my age would listen to if they had the choice, this will shape what we write as we will aim to write . what people want to hear.

How these link to 'cake and death'
Questions such as 'what lyrics do you think of when you hear the word cake/death' link, as that then helps us, and gives inspiration for lyrics when writing a song inspired by either cake or death.

Who will answer my questionnaire?
People of the same age group, i will send it out to friends and across music blogs to get a balanced set of answers, where the results will be collected and analysed after a set time.

Analysing responses;

When a group of people of a similar age boundary was asked if they would buy an album based on cake, death, or cake and death, the majority voted that they would rater buy one inspired by cake and death. This is a positive to us as this is what our album is inspired by, so its reassuring that people would purchase an album thats based on similar influence to ours.

These are some of the responses to lyrics people think of upon hearing the word cake, most of the responses are to do with eating, food or cake, this is a healthy correlation to the track inspired by cake as he first lyric and song title is 'cupcake'.

Similar to the past question, this asks what lyrics people think of when hearing the word death, because we haven't started our death track, this greatly adds a load of inspiration for lyrics we can use, a variety includes depression, silence, all these can be used in our track.

When asked if they would rather listen to a track that was based more on Lyrics or Instruments, the majority voted for instruments, meaning they would rather listen to a song that was more focused on the actual music, instead of meaning or influence behind lyrics. When writing a song this result helps us to direct where our focus should go, in this case we should more heavily focus on how we use our instruments to create a song.

This question is asking how likely it would be that a buyer purchases an album inspired by cake, to which the modal response was 3/5 stars, so essentially 'maybe', which is reassuring that people would consider it.

The results for the next question, which asks how likely a purchase about a death album would be, shows that a majority would certainly buy one, this is even more reassuring as this is what our album is more influenced by.

I asked the respondents to tick the artists that they would listen to, and in terms of our music, i would've hoped iron maiden got a few votes, as its our music is within the same genre. However the top three artists were the Arctic Monkeys, Drake and closely followed by Royal blood and Ed Sheeran. in joint first and second respectively, and not far behind in third was Pharrell Williams. This data shows that while people would buy an album with our influences, they maybe wouldn't buy an album with a similar sound.

The majority of people would rather listen to a song that starts off with 'cocaine', our first track starts off with cupcake, however the actual music doesn't fit a song with lyrics as cupcake. This links back to the earlier question of 'would you buy an album more influenced by music or lyrics' which shows that while our lyrics wouldn't attract, hopefully the music would.

This question asks what genre album a listener would be most likely to purchase. Pop came in with the most popular selection. This question is important as it shows what our album would be up against should it go on sale. its worth noting that i made an error in not including our genre on here, however the order of these genres, as the next question will say, was the order of album sales per genre, and our genre wasn't listed. But this survey does back up the fact that pop is a popular genre. We can also use this data to perhaps add elements of pop into our tracks.

The final question to my survey asked if the order of popularity was a surprise and unsurprisingly, people didn't think this was a surprise. We want to know if this would be a surprise because we want to know if a metal track made it would it be a surprise. However because there was no option for metal we're unable to judge how popular it would be, so we have to assume that, based on these results, it wouldn't be a surprise that metal isn't expected to be as popular as other genres.
