Unit 1 evaluation.
What was my role in the project?
in this project, i drummed for 'band 1'. Drumming would include keeping the tempo of the song consistent, and provide solidarity of the song in question.
To start off, my role contribution was slightly shaky, as this was the first time i had played in a group, but by the last song of the topic, it was pretty much there.
Two Positives and two areas for development.
One positive of the project was actually recording four songs with a group in the time we had. Another positive would be how quick we gelled as a group, this really helped when it came to new songs, as we could understand each others roles easier, and helped us get a song in the time we had.
However areas that could be improved were my communication skills, and that really was the only issue. This came into play when counting in the group, i would sometimes give the wrong speed, and rather than ask, i would guess, so i do need to work on my own communication.
Issues faced.
The only issues we faced were, as said previous about my counting, and by the last song of the project, i overcame it by asking about the speed etc.
Evaluation from start to finish.
To start with, we were briefed about the project, and were given four songs we needed to record within a set time. Over the time we had, we would be given a new track, time to practise, then would have the song recorded to studio quality, which required patience as everything needed to have microphones fitted, tested etc. but eventually would be a success. this process would be repeated with different songs, till we had one from each genre.
My personal Contribution.
I would say my contribution was adequate, it wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst and got the job done. I drummed over Four tracks to songs of genres that are different to me, so i would say my contribution was okay.
My contribution to teamwork
My contribution to the group could have been better. In short i should have been more confident when communicating, as little communication caused minor musical issues.
What have i learnt from this project, and how will i apply it to the next?
from this project, i've learnt that stepping out of my comfort zone is a necessity, and while i was hesitant to do so the first time around, i will try as much as i can to step out of it for project two. Another thing that has developed is communication and confidence, and will apply that to the second project.
